The provincial government announced changes to OSAP that turns it into a primarily loan-based program.

Previously, Ontario students could get up to 85% of their funding comprised of grants (non-repayable money). That number is now being reduced to 25%, meaning a minimum of 75% of your funding will consist of loans you have to pay back.

Additionally, the 7-year freeze on university tuition has been ended.

OSAP grants are not only being cut, but tuition will start increasing by 2% each year.

Higher tuition and less funding means Ontario students will begin accumulating way more debt.

We deserve an accessible education. Academia is labor and we should not be exploited.
